TRON

About_TRON.jpg

Antron Sykes (born December 19, 1991), also known as Tron, is an author, illustrator, and educator. Amidst a global pandemic, Tron drew on the experiences of essential workers to write and illustrate his first of many books: My Heroes Don’t Wear Capes. With his art, he hopes to uplift everyday people, as well as inspire a generation of youth to feel empowered and see themselves represented through his stories.

"The world is our canvas and we're all paintbrushes leaving our imprint on the bigger picture."

Illustrator

Birthed on a couch in East New York, Tron came into the world in his own little way. At a young age, Tron fell in love with drawing. What he loved most about illustrating, was having the creative freedom to express himself and make it his own. At times growing up without cable TV or the latest action figures, Tron and his siblings often relied on their imagination and creativity to pass time. What’s better than watching your favorite superhero cartoon on tv? Creating your own that looks just like you! And that’s exactly what Tron did.

Author

As Tron grew older, his love of art broadened to different mediums. He took a particular interest in creative writing during high school. Writing his own stories and poetry gave him another outlet to express himself. While growing up Tron was never the most outspoken or extroverted, so his writing provided a means for him to tell his story in his own way.

Educator

Tron is currently a New York City public school teacher. He has been teaching early childhood for many years and enjoys creating art with his students more than anything else. Inspiring students at such a young age to find their passion and identity through creativity is what brings Tron the most fulfillment. Throughout the years Tron has been reading stories to his students and seeing firsthand their reactions and emotional attachment to books. This inspired him to use his art to not only express his story, but to tell the stories of the countless boys and girls he’s encountered so that they too can be seen, heard, and represented.
